"Amatto Realm" (tile)
Painted tile mosaic. This was a small painting I was commissioned to paint, blown up, and converted into a tile backsplash. The imagery is derived from the commissioners love for her three homes, which are in three different parts of the country. It is an imaginary realm where the mountains of colorado, the Beaches of Avon, NJ, and New York city all co-exist. The three benches represent three of her loved ones who have passed away. The original was a sepia-toned oil painting. The tile version was repainted by another artist, who felt the need to add color and modify my original design. Overall I think it looks great and is a pleasantly unique element of her kitchen.
