"Bell Tower"

Oil on canvas. For this composition I simplified all the structures and tried to use complimentary colors to enhance the image. What attracted me to the image as I walked through town was the way the tower was gleaming white. The fact that it is part of a church is irrelevant to me, I was simply interested in the light. This piece is indicative of my style and overall interest in using the landscape around me as a canvas for expression and creativity. I enjoy playing with the line that divides abstraction and representation, much like earlier painters like Edward Hopper, and Charles Sheeler. The imagery acts as the vehicle which conveys my attempt at colorful expression.
